Associate Professor Zhichao Wu is a Principal Research Fellow and Head of Clinical Biomarkers Research at the Centre for Eye Research Australia, and Principal Fellow at the Department of Surgery (in Ophthalmology) at the University of Melbourne.
His research focuses on exploiting technological advances to prevent irreversible loss from common eye diseases like age-related macular degeneration and glaucoma. His work has been recognized internationally and nationally, such as through the receipt of the Irvin M. and Beatrice Borish Award by the American Academy of Optometry in 2020, and his work being included in the “Ten of the Best National Health and Medical Research Council Research [NHMRC] Projects” in 2024.
