Professional Bio
Christine is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Melbourne, overseeing binocular vision and paediatrics in the Department of Optometry and Vision Sciences. With extensive experience as a clinician, director, educator, and researcher, she established paediatric optometric services at the University of Melbourne Eyecare Clinic. Christine holds fellowships in multiple optometry colleges and holds a statutory appointment with AHPRA, serving on professional standards & performance panels. Her research interests focus on visual cognition in children and its impact on learning outcomes.
Christine has developed a novel dot pattern method to assess visual cognition in children and has been building a digital tool to assess visual cognition (Vis-CAT®) for accessible screening in school settings. Christine has led outreach eye care clinics in South-East Asia and is passionate about improving eye health and vision in children, in under-served communities and children with special needs and developmental challenges.
