Professional Bio
Globally respected scientist, inventor, author, and educator, A/Prof Brennan brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to the department. His career spans decades of transformative contributions to the fields of myopia control and contact lens research, which have helped shape clinical practice and public health policy worldwide. A/Prof Brennan recently retired from Johnson & Johnson Vision, where he served for 13 years as Global R&D Platform Lead for Myopia Control and Clinical Research Fellow. His impressive career also includes time as a private research consultant, tenured academic at the University of Melbourne, and visiting scholar at Stanford University. A Senior Fulbright Alumnus and award-winning researcher, A/Prof Brennan has played a key role in the development of influential medical technologies, including the Acuvue Abiliti 1-day contact lens and the Medmont corneal topographer. He holds numerous patents and is widely published, with his work continuing to inform evidence-based practice and innovation across the global vision science community.
