Synopsis:  This session will comprehensively explore the concept of pre-myopia from its identification to management, including discussion of its context within myopia development, examination protocols to appropriately identify individuals with pre-myopia, and appropriate management strategies. Myopia control treatments and their application to pre-myopia will be explored, as well as communication strategies for discussing the concept of pre-myopia and its management with patients and caregivers.

Learning Objectives
By the end of this session, delegates should be able to:
  1. Understand the definition of pre-myopia and contextualise pre-myopia within the lifecycle of myopia development and management.
  2. Explore clinical examination protocols for appropriate assessment and identification of individuals with pre-myopia.
  3. Develop strategies for the discussion of pre-myopia, consideration of myopia control, and setting appropriate treatment expectations with patients with pre-myopia and their caregivers.
  4. Apply appropriate optical and pharmacological myopia control treatment strategies to successfully manage pre-myopia, including consideration of acceptable treatment outcomes.
